You can bring the GPS to the ball and get more accurate distance data. Unlike other laser devices, there is no need to point and aim or have a direct line of sight to the hazard or hole.
How do I get golf course maps on my GolfLogix GPS?Included with your initial purchase is access to download a single golf course map of your choice. Simply follow the step-by-step instructions in the Quick Start Guide located in the box to download the Course Manager Software from the GolfLogix Web site. Then follow the registration and activation screens on your computer to obtain your free golf course map. With a $29.95 annual membership, you can download an unlimited amount of golf courses worldwide (currently more than 15,000 in the database) and have access to GolfLogix product enhancements and upgrades.
Is using a GPS distance device allowed under USGA regulations? The USGA and R&A both recently sanctioned the use of satellite-based yardage measuring devices during competition. Specifically, decision 14-3/0.5 allows a committee to permit the use of distance measuring devices by Local Rule. Golfers should check with their golf professional prior to use in a USGA sanctioned event. GPS devices have always been permitted in handicap scoring in recreational rounds.

Dear Golfer,

We invite you to join us on an incredible journey.
When we started this company in early 1999, we envisioned GPS going far beyond providing distances. The Internet was just emerging and we saw the combination of golf, GPS, and the Internet as a tremendous opportunity for golf enthusiasts. Distance was only part of the equation, harnessing the statistical performance of each round was the full potential.
In 2000, we introduced a comprehensive package that was tested by hundreds of golfers throughout the US. Players used GolfLogix GPS to track their club selection and automatically log the distance of each shot. At the end of their round, each player received a 3-page Post-Game Printout™ that featured a full-color map of their round—hole-by-hole, shot-by-shot—along with a detailed online statistical analysis of their shot distances and club selection. The system was very well received, but we shelved-it for a later date because we were far ahead of the adoption curve for the golf industry at that time and golf courses, who were our primary customers, really wanted our distance-only application installed as an amenity to speed play. We recognized the power of our innovative tracking and performance analysis system and pursued a patent to protect it which was filed in 1999 and granted to us in 2003.
Today, GPS is everywhere and the market now sees what more can be done. Our time has come and we are eager to offer a comprehensive shot-to-web solution. Our future direction is to give golfers a complete look at every shot they take and the ability to sync this data with previous rounds. Take a peek at what we are working toward. The graphics are astounding and the statistical possibilities limitless. GolfLogix would enable every golfer—amateur and pro—to truly improve their game.
Adapting our complete system to new platforms in a user-friendly consumer application will take some time to launch. However, our years of experience and our patent protection give us a tremendous competitive edge. We are truly excited about introducing our advanced features to fully exploit the potential that we witnessed early on.
We invite you to get GolfLogix GPS today and help us drive the future of golf.
Sincerely,The GolfLogix Team
